"Modern Psychiatry," a poem by Mark Langton

My mother isn't an issue.

There's hardly a mention of Freud.

There are times I require a tissue.

There are subjects I'd rather avoid.

As lively as dinner with Mother,

as chatty as dead Uncle Jim,

he leaves it for me to discover

that I'm actually me, not him.
